Applications Open for 2023 Music Institute!
Applications are now open for the Bowdoin International Music Festival’s summer institute, which will be in session June 24 – August 5, 2023. Each year, the Festival welcomes more than 250 students to Brunswick, Maine from around the globe to participate in an intensive exploration of chamber and solo music with 80 faculty and guest artists hailing from over 20 top conservatories. For these talented young musicians, the Festival experience consists of private lessons, coachings, studio classes, masterclasses, seminars, solo and chamber performances, concerts, and community engagement.
The Festival is committed to enrolling accepted students regardless of financial need and typically awards scholarships to 70% of students each summer. For thirty students in the Fellowship Program, the scholarship award covers the full cost of tuition, room, and board. The Festival is also pleased to announce a recent $200,000 endowment fund gift from The Bingham Charitable Trust to support Maine student scholarship. Following the wishes of the late Mr. Bingham, the award will allow all accepted young Maine musicians who play violin, viola, or cello to attend the six-week summer institute with full tuition scholarships. In addition, the Festival will continue waiving application fees for Maine students.
The Festival looks forward to welcoming friends and supporters back into Studzinski Hall and to Community Concerts throughout Midcoast Maine for our 59th season. Highlights include concerts by the Aizuri, Calder, JACK, Jupiter, and Ying Quartets, as well as the Imani Winds.
