Alexander Day, a native of Washington D.C., will graduate from the Eastman School of Music in 2024. He studies with professors Bonita Boyd and Anne Harrow. At Eastman, Alexander performs in numerous groups including the famed Eastman Wind Ensemble and the Eastman Philharmonia. He also plays in many chamber groups and has performed in many locations around Rochester connecting with and bringing music to the community.
Recently, Alexander was guest principal flute with the Syracuse Orchestra and he is also on the substitute list for the New World Symphony. He can also be heard on the latest recording from the Eastman Wind Ensemble containing music by Jeff Tyzik.
Alexander has participated in many competitions. He was a finalist in both the South Carolina Flute Society competition and the National Flute Association Competition, and was the 2021 winner of the Tallon Perkes Flute Competition at Eastman.
Prior to Eastman, he was a fellow with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D.C. where he studied with Principal Flute Aaron Goldman.
