Violinist Lauren Conroy is a master’s student at The Juilliard School studying with Donald Weilerstein and Li Lin. Lauren performs solo and ensemble works spanning traditional to modern repertoire. She has extensive chamber experience under the tutelage of Pacifica, Brooklyn Rider, Borromeo, Arianna, and Jupiter String Quartets, and has been invited to several festivals and residencies including Fontainebleau, Madeline Island Chamber Music Dorothy Richard Starling Fellowship, Avaloch Farm Music Institute, and The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Lauren has performed on renowned stages such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Chicago’s Symphony Center, and Beijing’s National Grand Theatre.
Lauren has co-produced and performed on several multi-disciplinary projects including Juilliard’s Beyond the Machine – InterArts combining her own electro-acoustic music with dance and film, as well as performing a new commission for NYC Ballet’s Choreographic Institute. Passionate about relating music to social issues, Lauren is a founding member of The Glass Clouds Ensemble whose mission is to amplify the message of New York area climate leaders through the commission, performance, and promotion of new music. The ensemble’s upcoming season will includes commissioned works based on ensemble-led interviews and conversations with climate activists Jeffrey Sachs, former Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute, and Monica Ibacache, co-founder and CEO of Beyond Organic design, a grass roots organization dedicated to providing environmental and sustainability education to diverse groups of students in NYC. Lauren’s recent solo project Sound, Sight, Movement explores the combination of music, dance, and visual art through the performance of American contemporary solo violin works in art galleries. Most recently the project has performed at the James Cohan Gallery in Tribeca, New York.
Lauren previously attended Indiana University studying with Simin Ganatra and graduated with High Distinction from the Hutton Honors College and Jacobs School of Music with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin. She also completed a minor in Political and Civic Engagement (PACE) and a certificate in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship.
