The Festival Returns for 53rd Season
This summer the Festival celebrates our 53rd gathering of musicians and music lovers of all ages in beautiful Brunswick, Maine. This is a cherished time when teaching, learning, inspiring, and collaborating happen and life-long friendships form.
We take great pride in expressing a strong sense of community through our public concerts and events. At these performances the Festival showcases the music-making of our exceptional artist faculty, talented participants, and guest artists. This year the Festival continues Festival Wednesdays and Festival Fridays concert offerings, where faculty, guest artists, and fellows collaborate to explore the vast chamber music repertoire and present patrons with inspiring interpretations. Two of the Festival Fridays will feature concerto performances by guest soloists, Anne Akiko Meyers and Joseph Kalichstein. The Monday Showcase series features established ensembles like the Borromeo, Jupiter, Parker, and Ying Quartets, and introduces the outstanding, prize-winning Rolston String Quartet.
You will find in the programming examples of chamber music masterpieces that are as vibrant as ever. You will also discover thought-provoking works that are rarely performed. The Festival’s commitment to the music and composers of our time is as strong as ever with guests Jennifer Higdon and Andrew Norman and the annual Gamper Festival of Contemporary Music that will present three programs on July 27, 29, and 30.
Come prepared to soak in six weeks of glorious music. We hope that you will be deeply moved by moments of great beauty that might occur at a Subscription Concert, Young Artist performance, Festival Insight, or Community Concert. The world needs great music now more than ever.
