IRA Charitable Contributions
If you have reached age 70 ½, you can transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to a charity. You will not receive an income tax deduction for the gift, but the amount given to charity counts towards your annual RMD and is not included in your taxable income. This strategy is available even if you do not itemize deductions on your tax return. The funds must be transferred directly to the charity from the IRA account and not via the IRA owner. Please consult your tax advisors about your specific situation.
